Boudala 27 Posted October 24, 2016 I'm day 18 post op from having my Sleeve done. I've lost about 22 lbs so far. Tomorrow the 25th is my 33rd birthday. My family has asked if we can cut a cake or some form of a birthday "cake". Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted October 24, 2016 Well if you had time to order these would be perfect. http://www.eatmeguiltfree.com/collections/brownies/products/birthday-cakev Since you dont have time to order. Google low carb cheesecake, and use a recipe that has to be baked with an almond meal crust, those taste the best. At 18 days I still suggest you skip it though. If you were further out you could have a birthday cake Protein bar. Let everyone else have cake and you have a Protein shake.

florence_faerie1515 19 Posted October 24, 2016 Happy early birthday! I had my surgery October 7, the day after was my 35th birthday. I get it. I'll be having a birthday celebration this weekend with family, cake free, and will probably put some pumpkin pie spice in my yogurt and call it a day. The surgery is my birthday gift to myself and I don't want to do anything to ruin it. I am looking at it as a tool to help me change my relationship with food and be healthy. Whatever you decide, I would suggest stay on your surgeon's recommended plan of what you can eat. If it'll be too tempting for you, I would ask to not even have a cake present. Maybe have a sugar free Jello or pudding as the dessert. Hopefully everyone in your circle will be supportive. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 24, 2016 This might make a good option if you had time to order it or had a local source. Another option might be a Protein powder Mug Cake.< /p>
PorkChopExpress 821 Posted October 24, 2016 I'd tell them to make it a meatloaf and put candles in it lol
Lema 236 Posted October 24, 2016 Mine was a month later and my siblings took turns to buy me a month's supply of frozen fruit for my Protein shakes. We are a family of 7 and 5 birthdays come in one month. We have had to get creative with ideas such as the one porkchopexpress has suggested. I also don't see why you can't cut a cake and let them have it. Don't let cake scare you. You are stronger than cake. Freckles70 25 Posted October 27, 2016 My birthday was about a month post op and I chose to have a small wedge of watermelon (allowed on my plan) as my treat.
Candygyrl 637 Posted October 27, 2016 Happy belated bday SCORPIO TWIN!!!!!! Mines was the 25th as well and I was enjoying lots of pampering at the spa all day!!!! As far as cake...My family is very respectful and don't even want to have a cake in my honor... but it is tradition so LET THEM EAT CAKE!!!! I'll pass. For some it's very tempting but I've given myself the greatest possible gift. -60lbs in 4 months---- and 4 lbs away from hitting my monthly target. We discussed getting a small/mini round cake and everyone eating bariatric size portions in the little dessert cups/plates with the little forks. Ya know just a little taste and divided up so theres none left. I was never huge on sweets so this would not be a trigger for me. I've had a pinch of cake here and a teaspoon of ice cream there just maybe 2 or 3 times since surgery and its not ever led to anything else, or stalled my weight loss or anything detrimental. Listen to your peers though. You're still pretty early out so this may not be a good idea if it has already passed. Mines is scheduled for Sunday soooo we'll see. AngelaP600 7 Posted October 30, 2016 At 18 days you should be sticking to your meal plans/stages. This means do not eat what isn't on the list. My birthday was 4 1/2 months post op and i did not have cake. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
ocgirl15 667 Posted October 30, 2016 You will have cake again after your at goal and in moderation of course . But at 18 days out stick to your plan. Others have provided some great substitutes. My kids insist on getting me cakes... Even at 11 months two bites and I am done. It has little appeal now. This is not the ideal food for everyday post WLS... But a better option than actual birthday cake https://www.yoplait.com/product/greek-100-whips-vanilla-cupcake

We used WonderSlim products when we were doing a medifast style diet but cheaper. I still have an entire cupboard filled with WonderSlim products. The hot chocolate plus instant coffee makes a decent high Protein mocha. HW 385 SW 359 CW 340 Sleeved 10/5/
Boudala 27 Posted October 30, 2016 Yeah I ended up passing... we did have a cake and let the little ones blow out the candles and it didn't bother me one bit to pass on it for myself and let everyone else enjoy.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 30, 2016 Yeah I ended up passing... we did have a cake and let the little ones blow out the candles and it didn't bother me one bit to pass on it for myself and let everyone else enjoy. That was when I knew the sleeve was different from dieting; I sat right next to my nephews birthday cake and had NO DESIRE to even taste it.
