susieghunt 2 Posted October 24, 2016 I had VSG surgery 10/19, so I'm 4 days out... I'm off of my Clear liquids phase, and moving onto full liquids. They say I can have low-fat cream Soups? What all does that include? Other than the cream of _________ (of which I'm not the biggest fan)? Can I have a homemade Tomato basil Soup finely puréed? HELP! I don't want to only live off of Protein Shakes for 2-3 weeks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Boudala 27 Posted October 24, 2016 Yes the homemade Soup is fine puréed ... I would very slowly introduce it because the Tomato may or may not give you acid. So here's what I did.... make sure you have zero fluids 30 mins prior. Then pour your 1/4 cup of soup and grab your baby spoon... and set a timer on your phone for 20 mins. And slowly sip your soup. If you can't finish then that's ok. Stop when u feel pressure under your breast bone it means ur full. Then get up and set another timer for 30 mins... remember no fluids ...and take some gas x strips if You feel the need. ...and walk it off.. get some good burps out...You don't have to walk the entire time but stay active. florence_faerie1515 19 Posted October 24, 2016 I mostly had cream of chicken which I strained and added some garlic powder and parsley to it. Tomato Soup did not sit well with me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 24, 2016 I liked the ProtiDiet creamy chicken and Tomato basil because they tasted pretty good and have Protein.
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted October 24, 2016 I had Tomato basic and country potato Soups from LA Madeline. Had to strain the small solid bits out.
PorkChopExpress 821 Posted October 24, 2016 Go check out Trader Joe's, they have a good line of cream Soups that gives you some variety.
highfunctioningfatman 2,675 Posted October 24, 2016 I went to Safeway and ladled out the broth from their chunky chicken noodle Soup. Five bucks for a quart. I put it in a coffee travel mug and just looked like your average everyday coffee freak. I personally wouldn't do cream of whatever Soups simply because I didn't want to go the direction of something that I didn't want in my diet.
elisa5150 212 Posted October 24, 2016 Any Soup with chunks strained out is acceptable. My favorite is Progresso Light chicken & cheese Enchilada soup. I strain it leaving me about a cup of creamy broth. Tastes just like eating a blended enchilada. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

blizair09 3,250 Posted October 24, 2016 My nutritionist suggested the broth from wonton Soup of any Chinese place as well as the broth from French Onion soup. (She specifically mentioned La Madeleine as we have them here in New Orleans.) I don't like either of those Soups in their "regular" form, so they weren't options for me, but they might be for you. For me, I have had strained Cream of chicken Soup (Campbell's 98% Fat Free) since Day 14. Now that I have all of these other options, I am about to retire it because it eats up too many of my daily carbs, but it was a life-saving option for me at Day 14!! Sai 785 Posted October 24, 2016 Miso Soup is one of my favorites. Can get a tub of Miso at Amazon (or an Asian grocery store), add a tablespoon to hot Water and sip away. Can add unflavored Protein Protein to get extra protein in there.
