I haven't made my decision which surgery is best for me. Has anyone started to regain or not lose the desired amount of weight before 1 to 2 years post- op

Regain of weight or not losing as much as you want is entirely up to you.

Yes, a surgery that includes mal-absorption will make weight loss quicker, but I've heard if people regaining with that, as well.

I chose the sleeve so that I didn't have to worry about mal-absorption, re-arranging my insides or the temporary status of a band as well as all the risks of the band.

I began at 275+ lbs and dropped to 115, bounced up to 120 where I've stayed for over 4 years. Give or take 2 lbs.

If you go into whichever surgery you chose, knowing that it is a lifelong change. You relationship with food must permanently change and exercise is important. This is not a diet, once you lose the weight, it is just as important to continue to stick with the plan.

Follow the plan, drink lots of calorie free liquids, avoid trigger foods and slider foods, no liquid a 1/2 hr before to a 1/2 hour after, get enough Protein, etc..... your tool will help significantly if you listen to your body and stop when full.

I am healthier, more confident and more energetic than I've ever been. I eat to live, NOT live to eat.

Whichever you choose, you CAN make it be successful for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
