They pump you full of fluids, swelling, etc is the reason. Don't pay attention to the scale. Keep sipping and walking - that's the best for gas. Move around even if you are just marching in place or moving your arms. Hopefully your surgeon ordered a PPI (acid reducer). You can also try Gas X strips. My stomach has been making noises (think Chewbacca meets Sasquatch ????) but it's normal. I also have watery diarrhea (which I prefer over constipation). I think walking has helped me the most. Hang in there! I was sleeved on the 18th - wasn't discharged until 10/21 and every day gets better.

AngelaP600 7 Posted October 23, 2016 Warm liquids like Decaf coffee or tea will help. The Protein powders like muscle milk hurt worse than anything i know and i think it created more gas issues Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Washington_girl 7 Posted October 24, 2016 It took me a full week to get rid of the weight gained from surgery. It took 2 weeks to get rid of all extra gas. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
sarahblu 179 Posted October 24, 2016 I was sleeved on 9/27 and had all the same concerns. I had lost almost 10 lbs the first week but ended up in the hospital with a bout of pneumonia and gained it all back. It can be discouraging but you have to be patient and think of the end result. It will come off...surgery does funny things to our bodies and it just takes time. I am 4 weeks out and now down 30 lbs. This too shall pass. Boudala 27 Posted October 24, 2016 Do not be afraid to use the Gas X strips! They will help I promise. And walk walk walk! The extra weight is normal! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
indyjeff 45 Posted October 24, 2016 I was also sleeved on the 20th and have had a growling or rumbling stomach as well, with lots of lots of burping. As others have said, I'm sure it's the gas escaping. Gas-X strips seemed to help me too (or at least didn't hurt). Hang in there, you'll get through it with the rest of us!
