dallasloser 4 Posted October 23, 2016 My surgery sent me home with these. I'm almost three weeks out. I've been wearing them but they get tangled up and quit working in the middle of the night. Do you think I still need them? I'm walking over 2 miles a day. I've been back to work for a week. I would have thought the threat has passed?? lalame 56 Posted October 23, 2016 I had to wear them while I was in the hospital for 3 days. The staff didn't send me home with them. I was told I didn't have to wear them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) @@dallasloser -- That's a question for your surgeon. I won't be surprised if, because of your walking, you're told to retire the stockings, but ask your surgeon. bdfletch 166 Posted October 23, 2016 My surgeon said to wear them for a month at night once I got home. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
blizair09 3,250 Posted October 24, 2016 I wore mine at the hospital, and they came home with me, but I didn't have to wear them anymore. I'd just check with your surgeon's people to make sure. That's always the best thing to do.
NikkiDoc 312 Posted October 24, 2016 I only wore mine the first 2 days at the hospital. I did not go home with them. My husband had back surgery a few months before me. He only had the compression things for the 4 days at the hospital. He was walking quite a bit less than I was at discharge and didn't need them. He came home with a walker. I was walking 1 mile the first couple of days and was quickly up to 2 miles.
