KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 24, 2016 I'm freezing (and only 6 days post-op). I'm usually walking around the house in a tank top and underwear no matter what the weather is - and since getting home from the hospital - I'm all bundled up and still freezing. I'm getting ready to take a nap under a heavy comforter, a heating pad and with the space heater blowing on me. The space heater we have is very safe. LipstickLady 25,682 Posted October 24, 2016 At 3.5 years out, it's not gotten better for me. I keep the heat on once it drops below 73, I use a space heater at my desk and I wear layers all the time.
theantichick 2,204 Posted October 24, 2016 I've just started getting cold some of the time, and I'm thrilled about it. I've been the overheated, sweating fat lady for so long, it's a nice change to be able to wear a sweater. The thing that has made me the happiest I sought out before the surgery because with the onset of my auto-immune arthritis, my feet are always just blocks of ice, and make it hard for me to sleep. I found something like this at Bed Bath and Beyond, and it's my favorite thing EVER. https://www.amazon.com/Serta-Triple-Electric-Heated-Warmer/dp/B00G1X4A06 Keeps my feet toasty while I sleep, and hubby even scoots over to share the warmth. Throw blankets on the couch are awesome, and though I haven't turned it on yet this winter, my family bought me this: https://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-TSM8US-R608-25B00-Microplush-Heated-Throw/dp/B008BF2SVA/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1477336650&sr=1-4&keywords=heated+throw Staying warm is easier for me than cooling off. TheCurvyJones 721 Posted October 24, 2016 Someone recommended me a space heater but I'm scared of those too. I have one at work. It doesn't really get hot enough to set anything ablaze. You can also get the ones that turn off and on on their own. I can't deal without my space heater.... the air blows right over my head at work!
ZollDoll 21 Posted October 24, 2016 I have been warned about this. I am usually cold at work as it is I do not want to even think about what it will be like after surgery. On the other hand at home, my fiance always wants an electric blanket and I am usually hot when I sleep so he will love that, or maybe not if I steal all the covers. highfunctioningfatman 2,675 Posted October 24, 2016 I have a theory on this and I could be way off base. My heart rate resting used to be 85-86 now it is 68-70. That is a difference of 18% less blood being moved throughout my body. My theory is that I'm cold due to less blood flow.

blizair09 3,250 Posted October 24, 2016 My partner and I have always kept the thermostat on a 67 or 68 tundra setting, but these days, I freeze to death. He's lost 85 pounds himself, but he hasn't had a big internal temperature change. I just sit under an extra blanket all the time. It will be interesting to see what winter is like. (But we rarely get below 40 degrees in the winter in New Orleans.)
cdsjjotn 516 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) I'm freezing all the time! My dual control mattress pad was my best investment ever! sleep is so important to me and there is nothing like climbing under a down comforter onto nice heated sheets ❤️. I use an electric throw while watching tv. And just bought new sweaters that I wear over camis. My hands are another issue, almost always like ice cubes, I find myself sitting on them at work. Doesn't make for easy accounting work . I'll have to look for gloves with the fingers cut out Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited October 24, 2016 by cdsjjotn

That would make me feel better. I actually get a lot of anxiety about electronics being plugged in. I have a whole OCD routine involving my curling Iron when I use it. I might just be too anxious to use it in my apartment. Or anything electric like the blankets or mattress pads. I really do appreciate the suggestions from everyone though. My office is weirdly balmy, if it was frigid I wouldn't think twice about the space heater because IDGAF if I accidentally burned it down. LOL. JK. The dumbest part of this is I am so happy with my weight loss that everyday I want to show SKIN. Someone tell me how to look sexy in layers.......
