Did I make a mistake?

I find it interesting to see this topic come up so frequently. I will normally pass these by, but your concern seems genuine and not a run of the mill cry for attention.

Jeez. You know a lot of people do seem to go through a brief phase of regret. It can be really tough and they're on here looking for support and other people who understand. Calling it a "cry for attention" seems pretty unfair and judgmental.

Well, I'm a judgemental type of person so that makes sense. Not everyone who makes these posts are truly looking for support. Some really are attention whores. I've seen plenty come and go.

Wow, what an offensive phrase. Well, good luck to you.

No offence meant, I'm just used to dealing with people with thicker skin I guess. I see that you have only been a member for two months. Perhaps you'll feel differently after 12 months, or perhaps not.

Best of luck to you as well. I appreciate the sentiment, but I prefer to think I make my own luck through hard work.

Acm22. I was exactly the same. Wasnt aware of the way the mind is affected. I feel a bit depressed to. Its coming up yo 5 weeks since surgery. I have learnt just to brace the whole thing and as im losing weight then its doing its job. Someone to talk with who understands helps. Its alot harder than it seems . Keep going its early days still for you

That you all for your words of comfort and wisdom. Me being the person I am, I usually OVERTHINK things and worry a lot- it's always been a flaw for me. Today is a better day and I am actually in a great mood. Today I had a shake and I guess that's the reason I'm feeling better- 32g in just over an hour.

You aren't alone. I have gone up and down the roller coaster. Right now I'm in a down. Almost 6 weeks out and 43 pounds lost. I work with a therapist weekly. It helps.

first off, congratulations on that 43 pounds of stress that is gone!!! I was thinking of seeing a therapist here at school- I know talking to people can help, and if it's working for you I'll give it a shot.

Also had mine on Monday! Trust me. This whole thing is a huuuuge transition and adjustment. It's no walk in the park. It's making me realize how often I ate when I was bored. How much I base my life around food and wanting it. I read a bunch of times that this is so common for the first stage.

I keep asking myself too...am I gonna regret this? But here's the thing: we are alone and home and bored and thinking too much. We just had major surgery. It's tough. What's been helping me is thinking about how much agony I go through when I'm shopping. How much I hate the way I look before I go out. How bad my self esteem is. It's easy to forget these things when we are trying to adjust to something totally new. Once you're out and about, eating normalish foods again and seeing results you will thank yourself. I know what it's like to be depressed and regretful but think about what's ahead and focus on goals ! Look at clothes online you might want to buy when you're smaller and think about how much better you'll feel. I keep going back and forth too in my own head but the more you come on here, read, reply, and meet people, you can also learn a lot and find great support. Good luck and please don't give up !

I've been going to a therapist for 3 years. For all kinds of stuff - it is SO helpful. I definitely recommend it.

We all been there especially in the first few days weeks after surgery. We have to prepare mentally as well and keep moving forward and remember why we did the surgery. It's definitely a change of lifestyle. I'm 17 months postop

HW 340 CW 200. I passed my goal weight of 230. I'm starting the gym again to reach my new goal of 190 or 185. Be strong. It's worth the struggle in the beginning. I added some pics to maybe help. attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1477227592.971086.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1477227611.033104.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1477227663.157556.jpg

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
