I don't get it. I'm 18 post op. I have had days where I feel on top of the world and then I have days like today where I don't want to eat, drink or get out of the bed. Has anyone experienced this? I get in my Water etc but I get days wheee my body is like no!! I'm a bit nervous as I return back to work on Monday and I can't function like this. Any advice is really appreciated.

I am Day 24 post-op, and I still have days where I am weaker than others, and days where my walking wears me out much worse than others. Overall, I still get tired really easy. This is why I am not going back to work until November 14. By then, my plan will have had me on the beginnings of meat for a week, and I am hopeful that my energy levels will be better. (And since that is the week before Thanksgiving, I'll work that week and then be off the entire week after...)

I'm 19 days post op and I am the same way. Some days great and some days seriously weak. Now that I can eat soft meat and Proteins I've been having more great days than bad.

Are you allowed to eat soft Protein yet? Getting enough fluids in?

Standard recovery time after major surgery is 6 weeks. I didn't start to feel human again until around 5 weeks. Be patient, take it easy, and give yourself time to heal.

I went back to work 12 days post op. I got dehydrated and overwhelmed. I struggled through work the next two days and then had the weekend to recover again. On day 18 I went back again and felt much more myself. I started the gym and I can't do as much as I like while working because I'm so tired some nights, but mostly I get through the days ok

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
