NikkiRT 265 Posted October 22, 2016 Anyone else having trouble sleeping since surgery? There's no pain, nothing keeping me up other than I am wide awake as of 4 am every day! Not sure if maybe I need to start taking some melatonin or what? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
sc101071 398 Posted October 22, 2016 Could be hormones. If you're still on pain meds, it could be those. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
southbound 159 Posted October 22, 2016 I have had a terrible time sleeping. Finally had to get a prescription because I was not sleeping for days! Hopefully it will level out. Our bodies are going through so many changes, I guess it just doesn't know what to do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Jesus loves you!!! NikkiRT 265 Posted October 22, 2016 I'm on zero pain medication. I only take protonics and that's all. Hopefully it gets better:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

GOM123 3 Posted October 22, 2016 I have heard from my acupunturist that your internal organs are balanced and when anything is wrong with them it brings disharmony and etc. from looking at most of the posts here with side effects such as facial flushing, insomnia, I really think that oriental medicine could help. I'm just bringing the word out there cuz not a lot of ppl seem to know. Look up stomach and tcm (which is traditional chinese medicine) and there are so many explanations of this. I'm pretty sure that insomnia and other side effects are caused by unbalance in our internal system because we removed such a large organ in our body

GOM123 3 Posted October 22, 2016 @@4MRB4PHOTO Why don't you try looking it up first. Its a real thing. I'm saying this from experience. I had really bad insomnia for two years (tried everything didn't work). Finally I visited an oriental doctor and got acupuncture and drank herbal teas. after a month my insomnia completely went away!! I sleep 8 hours a night everyday now. OzRoo 1,492 Posted October 23, 2016 I didn't sleep well for a long time. With the weight loss, some hormones got disturbed, and also my thyroid med got too strong (it is very weight sensitive). This made me hyper-thyroid for months. I had to take sleeping pills for few weeks. Now, I am finally sleeping much better, and my thyroid med has been reduced again. ocgirl15 667 Posted October 23, 2016 How far out are you? Pain meds caused sleeping issues for me early on. This was not new either I had issues with sleeping from pain meds after other surgeries in the past. I also second all the posters that mentioned hormones. My PCP is fine with me taking melatonin. It really helps me. Wishing you many zzzzs!
