Hi guys,

Just wondered if there are any UK sleevers pre or post-op on here? My surgery is scheduled for 2nd November 2016 and I'm on my pre op diet (and starving lol). I'm having my surgery at the Cobham Clinic in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, with Dr Whitelaw. I wondered if there was anyone local to chat with?

Thanks

Jemma

I'm UK too, I was sleeved on the 15/09 in London. I'm not struggling but feeling hungry. A bit disappointed that the weight isn't coming off so quickly but it's going down so it's progress.

Wow, so you are both ahead of me! Do you still feel it was the right decision for you? I really wanted to ask if your actual stomach hurts? Like the staple line where the stomach was removed? Is that painful? X

No, I was a lucky one. I literally found the whole process quite easy. I wasn't in any pain at all -there was even a time when I questioned if they actually did the correct procedure. The only thing that bothered me was that I wasn't able to sleep on my side for about a week.

I'm 5weeks post op now and doing extremely well. No regrets at all, although I wish the weight would shift faster.

I had no pain at all after surgery.

Even my incisions didn't hurt and the one where the drain was, was an open wound for ages.

I do get burning pain from acid and dense Protein sits like rocks in my stomach so I get uncomfortable but no pain at all.

If you have any doubts, do lots of research now!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
