I lost all of my weight by November 2015 now it's just been maintenance. Definitely keeping active, as you see I picked up biking which is something I haven't done in 20 years along with hiking. Surgery was the best decision I made in my life. My only regret was not doing it sooner since now I'm in my mid 40s .

Hope to chat with fellow NY'ers

Fellow NYer here! It's great to hear stories of success like this. Great job! I can't even remember the last time I was on a bicycle...I would have to say it's one of my NSV goals. I'll be 42 this November, then surgery is planned for December. I'm looking forward to a healthier new me.

Hi Gina. Thank you. Keep setting your goals and build your focus in the preop and postop. I've met so many who struggle after surgery because they were not mentally prepared to sacrifice. It's a change of lifestyle in the first year. Unfortunately I had to end a few friendships due to they didn't care about my surgery and continued to eat out and drink but that was not the way I wanted to continue.

What are you stats and goals?

Where in NYC ?

Congrats @atontor.. You've done wonderful, you're looking great!

My health and being able to be active again is the reason Im doing this.. Like you, I wish I had made this choice sooner, I'm 52 *sigh* so much time wasted/lost.. But at least I'm doing it now!

Again, CONGRATS!

I'm definitely making up for the time by being more active. Gym. Cycling hiking. Golfing.

You'll be amazed of the energy you'll have once the weight is gone. I started biking in June and been going on weekends at 4am and biking 30-50 miles. Of course I started slow but it's great if you can bike or learn if you don't know.

I am gearing up forthe sacrifices. My mom was asking me last night about "all the little places I like to go" (I'm assuming she meant eating establishments)...I told her I am going to learn how to sacrifice them for awhile. I told her I probably won't be able to have pizza (or Pasta or rice) for about 6 months, or more, and even then, I expect to be full on half a slice or less. In the end, I just want to be able to eat like a person maintaining a normal, healthy weight. I know I'll need to seriously sacrifice foods, but ultimately I hope to learn some real moderation.

So, I have some questions for you. What do you mean by the fact that they continued to eat out and drink? What type of change were you expecting them to make? Just curious. Did they not support you at all?

I didn't expect them to change but understand I wasnt capable of eating or drinking. I would go out with them to laugh but it was always an issue since they kept ordering food and drinks for me. They didn't respect my surgery. So I cut ties with a few of them. I didn't need any negativity in my life. We have to make hard decisions sometimes.

I sacrificed pizza for a year. I had a pizza in my 1 yr anniversary of surgery.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah, ordering food and drinks for someone who can't and shouldn't eat many foods is definitely NOT respecting you. It's one thing to not agree with your friends about the surgery, but to blatantly show yhat lack of respect is unacceptable. I'm sorry to hear that you had to deal with that.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
