Most of us have watched many of the episodes. The worst thing to me are the ENABLERS anding these people cartons of fried chicken, etc. even when they are in the hospital. So if your mama says eat this chicken nugget say HELL NO!

I kind of wish the producers of the show would start following them a little later in the process, because we generally don't get to see much of their post-surgery successes/failures. Too much of the one year they follow these patients is in the pre-op phase. But I agree, seeing the enablers and watching people drop out of their lives by the end of the show says a lot about the challenges the super-obese face. Sometimes they are their own worst enemies, sometimes they browbeat people into enabling them, they bully their loved ones who don't know what to do...but sometimes, it's the loved ones who want to keep them where they are. It's an interesting and sad show, but I always end up wishing I could find out how they ultimately ended up doing.

Maybe going to the Internet and look for the show sometimes they have the followups...

Yeah, a lot of them you can kind of tell that they aren't mentally committed to the change and are likely to just right back to their old habits. Some people just can't be helped, no matter how hard you try.

The early shows followed a much longer time span, but the latest episodes seem to be more current so less time. They do go back and revisit some of the people in the Where Are They Now episodes.

I find that depending on where I am on my journey I get different things every time I watch.

Definitely go back and watch some of the older episodes. It has been interesting seeing Sr. Now's treatment evolve. He is finally on board with Protein and does more sleeves than he used to.

There is a series on YouTube called Fat Doctors. The name is annoying but the show is great. It follows Shore Summers and his bariatric team in England. It's kind of like My 600 lb Life it's a really great show and I'm addicted. I'm waiting for new Episodes but it gives you loads of info. I hope some of you watch.

I like dr. Now. He needs to be tough with many of them. Coddling them at this point wont help them.

Agree he needs to be tough. I really like that he puts them in the hospital and gets to see how the families sneak in food. They have had years of manipulating their families and he does not coddle. My heart breaks for some of them, yet there are some that make me angry at their attitude. We are l different. I guess when you reach such a morbid stage in life it cannot be helped that you want it your way. So sad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
