busybeebug 415 Posted October 20, 2016 I'm at a loss on how to track food when I am taking 3 or 4 bites? I don't know how to track that little of food. If I dish out 1 or 2 Oz but hardly eat any how do I calculate that? Do I reweigh it? When I'm out, just guess?
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted October 20, 2016 If you measure a portion and don't finish it, do you finish it later? If so, then just track the portion you ate based on what you measured. For instance if you eat 1/2 a Greek yogurt then record the 1/2 serving and then when you finish the other half record the second 1/2 (or 1/3 or quarter or whatever). busybeebug 415 Posted October 20, 2016 Typically I don't finish it the same day. I take my bites then put it away. I'm still training myself not to be grazing all day. It's a tough habit to break. If it's a dairy products, I either pitch it or my husband will finish it.
rolosmom7 740 Posted October 20, 2016 Track it in my fitness pal. It takes any decimal, so I use .33 and .5 a lot. If you finish Breakfast at dinner that's the other .
busybeebug 415 Posted October 20, 2016 Ok. That sounds like a plan
WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted October 20, 2016 Yes, if you don't know, reweigh or remeasure by volume as suitable. Simple.
gemigirl 134 Posted October 20, 2016 I weigh everything and enter it into my fitness pal. As the day progresses I typically need to eat 5-6 times to get everything in - I still cannot get past a 3 ounce meal of soft foods. So if I want to get my Protein in, I have to graze for now. BigViffer 3,544 Posted October 20, 2016 Just in case you don't know; on the MyFitnessPal app/website you can change the default labels. You are not stuck with Breakfast / lunch / dinner / Snacks. I changed mine to A - 6 Am To 12 Pm B - 12 Pm To 5 Pm C - 5 Pm To 10 Pm D - 10 Pm - 6 Am The reason for the letters in front is when I scrape the HTML from the webpage and put it into my spreadsheet, the times are kept in order. I also label my tracker calorie modifier as E - Exercise. The benefit of tracking the times of the day as opposed to the meals is that there were instances where my lunch was as early as 11 or as late as 3. So was that a lunch or a snack? Or if I had a snack between breakfast and a snack after dinner, I couldn't go back a month later and see where/when I was eating too many calories, etc... BigViffer 3,544 Posted October 20, 2016 Oops, forgot the main point of my post! If you weigh out 3 oz of something, say scrambled eggs. You can't finish it in the 20 minutes of breakfast, but you do end up finishing it an hour later; it falls within the same time period of your labels and your measurement is still valid.
