A Vitamin Question

Recommended Posts

I'm waiting to hear back from my doc's office on this, but figured I'd crowdsource here too. They started me out on chewable Multivitamins, but the taste squicks me out. For my B Vitamins, I use a liquid from the pharmacy. Did anyone transition from chewables to the patch vitamins and how has that worked out for you? Thanks in advance for any insights you can offer.

Physician's assistant called back and said no on the Patches -- they're apparently not as effective as the Flinstone's chewables (yes that's what they have me taking.) Guess I'll keep choking those down.

Yes the Flintstones Vitamins are nasty so what I do is take them in the bathroom and I brush my teeth , tongue twice , gargle twice the taste us gone. The Patches is a no no please don't use the patch. Best of luck

Thanks Tyani. The brushing right after sounds like a good idea.

I've recently discovered powder Vitamins that you mix with Water -- and I noticed a positive difference in how I felt as soon as I started using them. And they taste great. Isotonix -- here is the combination I use (has iron): http://www.isotonix.com/product/isotonix-daily-essentials-kit-with-iron/?skuName=Isotonix%C2%AE%20Daily%20Essentials%20Kit%20%28With%20Iron%29%20-%20Includes%20Multivitamin%20with%20Iron%20%2890%20servings%29,%20OPC-3%20%2890%20servings%29,%20Activated%20B-Complex%20%2890%20servings%29%20and%20Calcium%20Plus%20%2890%20servings%29&id=6466&idType=sku

I was told to mix, wait for 2 minutes, drink on an empty stomach -- then wait for 15 minutes to achieve maximum absorption. Much preferable to all other Vitamins I tried -- which were mostly "yuck" and lacking in nutrient value. I feel healthier than ever!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
