What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to visit FYI land but do you lose fat everywhere? Like soles of feet, knees etc. How about private areas? I figured boobs rump and both kinds of cheeks. I'll miss being asexual, strange as it seems, I may have dudes hitting on me, hadn't happened in years , now what? Well I'm gonna bear up under the strain if I must.when I let the pruned down Rosey out will anybody like me?/And more important will I like me? I'll need new clothes, what do I do with the old ones. Some I've had for years and years. I have always feared getting rid if things, figured I only deserved tacky wornout things, not bright colors, bright print or polka dots. Leather, shade and silky fabric, I spent that money on other family members. Do I deserve a turn? Yes I do, and I will. Watch out world, Turbo Rosey's coming, just grab the roll bar and breathe deeply. Posey Power for the Rosey!!!

Honestly... knowing what size clothes I wear. I'm still losing and all that. I hate, hate going shopping, and I don't think its just because I'm bigger. I think it more has to do with spending money on myself, I rarely do it. ANYHOW... I've bought a few things online... picked the size that I'm in according to what I bought last which wear a pair of comfy gym/sleep pant. I got a 3x the first time and they were falling off so I got a 1x and they fit - and that was before surgery... now the 1x is falling off, but I think those things are running big - so, I guess I'm going to have to get some extra money put aside so my sister will go shopping with me just to find out what size I'm in!

A good example is this... I REALLY want to buy this dress, but I have no idea which size to pick and I think their stuff runs small :(

I definitely miss my boobs and butt. That thing used to be cornbread fed and now it's flat and sad. I keep teasing my husband about buying some booty pops ( underwear with butt pads to make you look like Nikki Minaj) at the beauty supply store. I'm still paying off my surgery, but as soon that's done, I'm buying some new boobs! As weird as it sounds, I miss the bravado my large body gave me. Weighing in the same as most heavyweight boxers gave me a certain confidence in the ability to defend myself. I thought nothing of walking to my car after last call and would joke that I could hold my own against any man. At 5'2" and 147, I'm now pretty petite and would more than likely get my a$& handed to me in a fight....

@@losergrl75 That is something else I'm probably going to miss being able to hold my own by using my weight to my advantage, but I look at it this way - now I'll be able to do kickboxing and not worry about falling on my butt! :D

Some of you talk about being invisible while being normal sized, but I feel invisible being fat. No one looks at me. I have moderate to severe psoriasis and when I wear shorts, I get the same reaction as if I wore pants.

This thread is supposed to be light, funny and tongue-in-cheek. In no way is it meant to be a way to talk people out of saving their own lives with WLS. The benefits to WLS is obvious. I'm glad a lot of you get it!

Sucky noises when you stand up from plastic chairs; young people telling me Grandma I'll get you chairs or opening doors with my belly, closing them with my rump. People yelling Hi Sexy and you know its not you they refer to. People trying to share your warmth, "you're fat, you must be warm" Refrigerators are also large as well as stoves.,fool.

Sammydress is one of those China based companies---their clothes run super small and hardly ever look as good as the photo. Google some reviews for them. A friend of mine who has always been like a size 6 ordered from them and even ordered up a size large due to the reviews. She ended up giving it to her daughter who is in the 6th grade and she's a 6th grader that is average height/weight for her age , so there is no way a woman's large should fit her.l And it was very cheap fabric!

During weight loss phase , I found a nice Goodwill in my area and bought all most of my clothing from there. You do have to try everything on since stuff has been worn and washed, but I felt much better about paying $5 for a pair of pants I wouldn't be in for long. I also wore a lot of Walmart $4 leggings. Bought a size down since they are stretch and that way they lasted me a long time.

  • Not going to miss my 3 year old grand daughter asking when I am having my baby. Not the best question, especially for a GrandPa.

I was just thinking the other day that I miss being able to pig out on junk food. But junk food doesn't have the same appeal for me it used to.

I'm only 2 months out, so some people will probably jump on me for this, but I am trying to not pathologize food at any level, so if I'm craving something now that I'm released to a full diet, I eat it. Usually just a bite, because I realize it doesn't taste nearly as good as I thought it would. Hubby and kiddo were eating double stuffed oreos last night. I used to LOVE them. I asked for one, and ate it. It totally wasn't worth it. I wanted a chocolate shake the other day when they were heading out to get food, so I had them bring me a small one. 2 or 3 sips in and my sleeve started balking at the richness, sugar, something. I handed it off to the kiddo and won't be doing that again anytime soon. Bottom line, nothing that I used to binge on tastes good enough to mess with. So part of my brain still misses those things, but my body is obviously done with it.

I'm going to miss some of my favorite shirts. I've already had to give away several. I have a couple that are high enough quality I'll have them altered. The rest, I'll just go find new favorite shirts. LOL.

I'm actually looking forward to being cold all the time. I've been the one that sweats constantly for so many years, I'm looking forward to being able to wear nice sweaters and jackets. :)

I will probably miss my boobs, since there's little chance they'll stay the same size as I lose weight. But there's a ton of lingerie options that can compensate for that.

No, I think I'm good with the weight loss, I'm not going to miss being obese.

ROFL that's so bad, if it didn't have a grain of truth you could disown her! So is Grandpa getting rid of the keg and going to a 6-pack? Little folks can be our motivation, you know.

It has been 5 months since I last saw her, and sure she will nor longer ask that question.

She is really cute, but very brash in her questions to everyone., and always really loud...(Typically 3 yr. old)

What is there to miss about obesity? Nothing.

What is there to miss about behaviors that lead to obesity? That's a totally different story. My answer is: I miss quite a lot.

I would have ignored this thread and rolled my eyes but the way I'm feeling today... I think its right on time. So I will miss

Eating and Drinking at the same damn time.

Enjoying carbonated beverages (guilt free)

My "Big Booty Judy" Booty

Eating more than just 2-3 bites of food before I'm full.

Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits

pancakes with extra butter

Croissants warmed with a pat of butter

Spaghetti sandwiches with buttery garlic bread

Alcohol although I didn't drink much to begin with I definitely enjoyed an occasional margarita, daiquiri, pear martini, sweet red (wine) whether it be during lunch when the hubby would take me out or date night.

So... most of my misses are food related. CARBY foods were my poison. I will get over it. It's like a relationship that you know wasn't good for you-- happy to be out of it buuut every now and then you get sad reminiscing about good times.

Today I just had a moment although I always understood that for the rest of my life I would have to be very careful about anything I eat or drink-- I guess It just got real real for me.

I LOVE tbis post--its definitely an unpopular truth.

I fear losing what i call "my black girl" the coke-bottle shape ive always had--small waist, butt you can sit a drink on, boobs that make men and babies drool...LOL

Ive also been cursed with really skinny legs and ankles, so im not looking forward to them getting skinnier--i just pray that my thighs, which have always been big (my cheerleader nickname in college was "pork chop") will match the rest of my legs.

Definitely praying i get to keep my T&A tho.

Im also going to miss "junk food nights" with my girls: Wine, martinis, cheese, chocolate, dips & chips--we have a howling good time as you can imagine. Maybe i can have my martinis in a shot glass! LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
