I am only 2.5 months out...but I miss my boobs. Yesterday I put on my bra backwards and it fit just as well as frontward. Sigh, they are also starting to hide in my arm pits. Jerks. The positives far out weight the negatives...but I feel less girly.

I'm going to miss having only a handful of stores to shop in. I was able to keep my wardrobe in check (not really - I donated like 5-6 trash bags overflowing with clothing in the last two months - and I have two more in the closet!) by not having access to every store on the planet. Now I have too many choices and it means I want to shop and buy all the clothes from all the stores. :x

This is a confession, I have been married for 43 years. I know my hubby's preference of his women's sizes. I also know he will love me at whatever size I am, he has been with me thru my ups and my downs LITERALLY!!! And when he said these things I know he thought they were a joke but...here is the way it made me feel. At first, I was checking into my Panni he said, You know I wouldn't care if you wanted BREAST AUGMENTATION!!! I said, Oh so my boobs aren't big enough now! Come to find out he was talking about a breast lift. OK Then he made fun of my saggy butt, along with teasing me about how my body looks now. He said you are nothing but bones now. So I CAN NOT get these things out of my head!! I don't like him to see my body because I feel like its not something he really likes. I know it may sound silly to you. I think I had more CONFIDENCE about my body before!! SAD BUT OH SO TRUE!! You all know that once something is said it is so hard to forget!! I know I'm overreacting because this is the man who has told me MANY MANY times that he never saw any of my weight gains. He was so sweet when he said, I never noticed any of your weight because I just saw you as the day I married you!! I just wish I could get over it!! My mind just keeps playing it over and over. If he didn't love and desire me he would NOT be here. RIGHT

It's a big change for your husband to absorb, as well. The thing is, weight loss surgery has been the end of a lot of relationships, so the fact that your husband is still with you is testament to how much he loves and cares for you. Aesthetics fade over the years, you know? Our looks fade, our skin wrinkles and starts to sag, but love is a decision you make to care more for someone else than yourself...and I'm sure your husband is thrilled that you took control over your health, even if he may miss a curve here or there. He will get used to the new normal, over time. You've been together a really long time, he was used to a different body. Try not to worry too much, the guy obviously loves his wife :)

My wife is shooting for next summer for surgery, and is already talking about what she wants to do to tighten up the skin and take care of "the girls" when she reaches her goals. As a guy, of course I'm going to be on board with any of that...we like boobs! It's a man thing. But after three kids, the boobs aren't what they once were anyway, you know? Age and gravity catch up, regardless of weight loss. But I think it'd be a boost to her self-esteem to get back a bit of her younger look, and I have no problems with that at all, obviously.

Don't take his comments as a slight, or as criticism. And consider the self-esteem factor of how you would feel, getting something done. That's the more important factor - how it would make you feel. I am going to work hard to get the kind of physique I always wished I could have, and I'm sure skin will be an issue for me...so when I reach that point, I will make the decision of whether or not to take care of it. But while my wife may be happy if I do, ultimately it'll be for me. Just like her plans with regard to lifts and such will be for her.

I hope you're kidding because the topic title and opening post are pulsing with ironic, offbeat humor. You may have written what would be an award-winning infomercial for bariatric surgery. Colbert, Oliver and the rest will be clamoring for you.

I don't know who Colbert and Oliver are, but my second Cabbage patch kid was named Colbert Oliver from the patch.

Stephen Colbert? John Oliver? Sure you do. Yes, no, maybe? (There's a Jamie Oliver, but he's a TV food guy.)

Cabbage Patch kids had great names. I was wa-a-a-a-y too old to buy one (and what would I have done with it?), but, because I knitted a lot of clothes for nieces' and friends' kids dolls, co-workers gave me one of my own. I kept her (don't recall her name; it was typical of her species) and finally gave her to another relative's kid born years after the craze.

I don't know if I miss it, but was wrestling with a big heavy box that we store Christmas stuff in. I had the boys move it the first year after surgery, but when I tried to move it, it moved me. You can't get around some of the rules of physics and mass. But I am glad tennis balls don't go into orbit around me ;-).

Ok, yeah. When I saw the names together I read Colbert as kol-bert instead of kol-bear. It totally threw me off!

Oh, I was the perfect age when they first came out and women were literally punching each other at the stores for them. We were poor, so it was a super big deal that a lady at church worked at a store that sold them and put one up for my mom to buy me for Christmas. I was so surprised because I didn't think I'd get one. Then I saved my allowance for 6 weeks to buy the second one. That was an eternity for a 7 or 8 year old! (I think that was my age then.)

I guess the excuse of my weight' to have my family be at my beck and call, so sorry, but that was the mess I was in. I was so heavy and had sprained a foot and broke a toe in the last year, they got used to waiting on me hand and foot. After I got through the worse of the surgery I told them they needed to let me do the things I could. I am a bit ashamed at how much I took advantage of the situation.

I definitely miss my boobs and butt. That thing used to be cornbread fed and now it's flat and sad. I keep teasing my husband about buying some booty pops ( underwear with butt pads to make you look like Nikki Minaj) at the beauty supply store. I'm still paying off my surgery, but as soon that's done, I'm buying some new boobs! As weird as it sounds, I miss the bravado my large body gave me. Weighing in the same as most heavyweight boxers gave me a certain confidence in the ability to defend myself. I thought nothing of walking to my car after last call and would joke that I could hold my own against any man. At 5'2" and 147, I'm now pretty petite and would more than likely get my a$& handed to me in a fight....

Nothing. Except maybe being invisible. Once in awhile, its nice to be invisible, but I got tired of being invisible all the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
