The closer I get to being done... the more everything gets pushed back.

My insurance doesn't cover a home sleep study. So they cancelled my appointment for it tomorrow, and appealed for it to be done in a lab.

That can take up to 14 days to be approved.

I give up on having the surgery before my birthday which is the original plan.

I'm bummed and upset.

Just feel like I'm doing all of this for nothing.

I am sorry to hear that. Don't get bummed, it will work out. Stay positive and stay the course.

It'll happen! This waiting part is the worst part of it all (OK, I'm lying, the liquid pre/post op is the worst)!

Don't make it a race, and don't put 'time' constraints on your success... even if you dont' get your surgery before your birthday, you'll have it before your next birthday, and most likely you'll be so much thinner than you are now!

Keep it in perspective, and don't let yourself down with timed goals!

Sometimes you just have to have patience with this process. It doesn't happen overnight. It took me 16 months from my first orientation meeting until my actual surgery. I wanted to have surgery over winter break last year. It ended up happening early summer of the next year. Be proactive. Is there a number you can call to find out if you were approved for the study instead of waiting for them to call you?

There were times that I got down, but I kept reminding myself that it will all work out eventually. I am glad I stuck with it. Trust me, it is worth it.

I totally understand. I rushed to get pre-pre-op clearances this summer and I realize now that I was a bit delusional in thinking I would be able to get everything approved and done in time to have surgery to go back to school, between August 12 and September 1st. It didn't happen., and now I have to wait until my next school break. I'm still not even approved, but at least I finally have a surgery date (12/23). In the last few weeks, I have been noticing a shift in my thinking, so I'm feeling ok and possibly even thankful about the delay. Good luck with your process. Have faith things will work out for the better.

It took me 15 months. Insurance companies are slow - nothing you can do to speed it up. Just keep on trucking.

It's not my insurance companies fault... lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
