Hey! I'm 8 days post op, and I've been able to drink Water like I used to. I can have multiple sips at a time with no pain or anything. And cold water taste sooooooo good to me! Is this normal?

Can anyone else drink water like this?

PS I had the Bypass.

Totally normal. I was able to drink without issue by day 4. By two weeks, I could gulp Water, drinking as much as I want.

I just celebrated reaching four weeks post RNY. I was heavily restricted to 1 oz. each 15 minutes for the first 10 days, however, after that, I have had absolutely no problem consuming a high volume of liquids. I try to base my water/liquid intake on proper hydration levels adjusted to my gender, age, height and weight and by doing that my ultimate target is over double the much trumpted 64 oz target. There are numerous hydration calculators available online.

It takes me like 30 min to drink a 16oz bottle LOL! And if it's cold, I can go through almost in one sitting! I was just wondering being only 8 days post op if that was normal! I feel no pain, no pressure, cramps, nothing LOL Cold Water taste SOOOOO good to me haha

Hi all. Just had my bypass on Monday morning 10/17. I'm checking my Water intake log. I know I should be drink 64 oz per day but it seems I doing just about half with Water, crystal lite, Powerade and Popsicle. I feel really bloated and minimal pain. Should I be worry?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
