KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 21, 2016 How are you feeling today? Do you get to go home? I am two weeks ahead of you and graduated from full liquids to soft foods today (and, with my surgeon's ok, went for my first post-op jog). So far, so good! Every day gets easier! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I'm still in hospital. Nausea was really bad for first few days and I wasn't getting in any fluids. If I can drink enough today - then I can go home. It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed. Congrats on your journey so far!

WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted October 21, 2016 (edited) @@KristenLe, well? You're three days post op and nary a word. How's my girl? WHOA - IGNORE THAT. I hadn't "followed" the topic, therefore, didn't know it was still active and that you had checked in. I hate that you're still in, but the IV (I gather) has been necessary. They can't sent you out until you demonstrate the ability to hydrate on your own and you wouldn't want it any other way. You are a trouper. I hate to say it but first few days were way worse than expected and I was well prepared. The nausea was worse than the pain. Wrenching does not feel good 24 hours post-op. :-(. I thought I blow my staples. Today I was well enough to be discharged. Haven't been on pain meds since yesterday morning. I think Chewbacca is living in my stomach though because I can hear him roaring Everytime I open my mouth.
WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted October 22, 2016 @@KristenLe, pardon me for not checking "like," but the only part I like is that you're home. The rest is icky. If by some chance the retching and wrenching happen again before your incisions are healed, firmly press a bed pillow against your middle to brace yourself. It really makes a difference. Same goes for sneezing, coughing and laughing, especially if your laugh is a guffaw. Welcome home.
suzzzzz 1,005 Posted October 22, 2016 @@KristenLe So glad you are home and sorry you experienced so much nausea. Chewbacca may be in your stomach for a while. I find myself talking at times when mine just keeps making noise. Onward!
OzRoo 1,492 Posted October 22, 2016 @@KristenLe Hope you start feeling better soon! Are you taking Zofran wafers at all, or anything else for nausea? Perhaps someone can get you some electrolyte Water, so you won't get dehydrated! And as was suggested, keep bracing your tummy, with either a pillow or even your arms. Best Wishes to you! indyjeff 45 Posted October 23, 2016 Welcome home Kristen! Sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough time post op. I was sleeved on the 20th and had nausea for the first 24 hours. My 2-hour drive home from the hospital was awful. I had to stop to throw-up a few times, and the jostling in the car was MISERABLE! Feeling a little better on my 3rd day post-op, but like you and others, my stomach is starting to growl! Hour by hour; day by day!!!
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 23, 2016 Thanks everyone! I'm doing pretty good. Chewbacca has been joined by Sasquatch in my stomach though. :-). I'm doing better with fluids and Protein today. I'm freezing so I'm under the covers with a heating pad and a portable heater blowing on me. Timing my nap and walk around football. Thanks for asking about me! Much appreciated!
