Okay thanks to a special lady im going to give it another shot.

Here is my question anyone out there that would sweat an unusual amount before surgery? Did it get better after surgery?

Like crazy ALL THE TIME!!! I bought a pillow at costco today (Frost). It is a memory foam type that is supposed to stay cool on both sides. If I could stop my head from being soaking wet I have to think I'll be more comfortable.

I did sweat a lot, and I live in a very hot and humid climate. It was awful.

Most of my sweating though was due to my hyper-active thyroid.

After thyroid treatment and WLS, I am finally starting to feel cooler.

I love it!

I sweat like crazy...and I live in Maine...cold northeast. I am post op...lost 60# from highest weight till now...43#post op and I am still sweating like crazy. Hope it improves as I loose weight, but I am a bit discouraged.

I am 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery. Prior to surgery I sweated profusely. Even when the temperatures approached 32 degrees F, I would drive around with the car window open. When I worked outdoors, I would come in and my shirt was totally soaked.

After surgery, this condition went away. I no longer sweat profusely. But on the flip side, I do feel the cold, the chill in my bones. Thank God someone invented hand warmers for when I shovel snow in the wintertime.

Doxaholic-. I just drip all the time..gross gross gross...it's my face which is the worst...I hate people staring at me. Sometimes I tell them I'm having a hot flash. Anything to get them to stop staring. At least it is just sweat...I don't stink.

Absolutely!!!! From places i did not even know i could sweat. Now, i dont sweat unless i am working out.

In fact, the opposite happens. I am cold all the time and even in the summer have a jacket on. LOL.

I prefer it that way because sweating sucked!

Oh MY GOODNESS!!! I would sweat all of the time!! Even just sitting in a chair. Anytime I moved!! NOW nope!! I'm cold a lot. Before, if I got just a little stressed it was so embarrassing!! Thank goodness if I sweat it is very rare!! BTW I also have thyroid problems.

It used to be extremely embarrassing, now only moderately so.

I used to sweat so badly, especially at night. I would keep my bedroom super cold and run a fan but would still wake up sweating. The house would have to be sitting at about 68 for me to be comfortable during the day. Now I am constantly freezing. My thermostat is set at 75 and I'm still cold. In my classes my fellow students would complain about the warm temps and I'd be sitting there shivering in my shirt and sweater. I definitely appreciate it because I can't use antiperspirant (only deodorant) due to my hs issues under my arms. It makes my life a whole lot easier not having to deal with the displeasure of being moist. :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
