Just curious, is soup a slider food?

Recommended Posts

I tend to be able to eat a bit more Soup than any regular food, during meals. I'm not over doing it by any means and I'm staying with the calories, carbs, and Protein counts. I eat slowly with baby spoons. I eat my 1/2 cup portion with

solid food meals and am quite full, but with Soups I tend to go a little over to feel that full feeling. Do you think soup is a slider food? Just wondered.

Soup isn't even approved by my plan, I'm not sure why since its so easy to eat. There are a couple of things not on my approved list, but I've seen on others list, that I have eaten on occasion once I passed two months post op. I don't find it a slider at all, and homemade, I make sure there is more shredded chicken than typical, so it fills me up fast.

I know not to try the creamed Soups.< /p>

Since Soup is liquid you and won't stay in stomach long, it will take more to feel full. And it won't last as long.

Most folks say liquids go right thru, but they fill me up, even Water. A different full than with solid food. I love soup but mostly eat solids.

Eating Soup is the same thing as drinking with your meal, so if you are supposed to avoid that, you may want to switch to straining the soup, drinking the broth, then eating the solids from the soup.

Chili has proven to be, for me. I really have to measure that out and be careful, because it goes down so quickly (not a lot of need for chewing) and the fullness sneaks up on me fast. I like it for mixing with the Protein Powder, but I just have to be even more aware of my speed when I eat it.

During postop healing it's okay, it will not be soup you'll keep eating once you heal

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
