Surgeries in Tijuana Mexico

Recommended Posts

So I'm just curious how many people have actually went to Mexico and had their surgery? Its kinda scary to me but not as scary as my insurance telling me they will cover nothing if I have complications from this surgery. I have noticed there is insurance you can buy for any complications but it's only good for thirty days. Did anyone else have my concerns and went ahead with the surgery anyways in Mexico? What was the experience like? Anyone have Dr.Maytorena? Thanks

I had an excellent surgery in Mexico. I went through Trinity Medical and they treated us like family. My wife was treated to lobster and a massage. They also got her whatever food she wanted while I was at the hospital. Zero complications and zero complaints.

Myself, my wife and my brother in law all had surgery in Juarez, Mexico in the last two months. We went through a company called BeLite Weight. The experience was awesome and I would recommend anyone to go there if you are doing Cash Pay. We all had Dr Jose Rodriguez and his team do our surgeries. He has done over 11000 procedures over his career. He is one of the original Dr's to perform the sleeve surgery even before it was approved in the US. The complication rate is less than 1% for this surgery. You will do just fine if you decide to go to Mexico. Good luck on your Journey. Here's to a healthy you!!!!!

Had my surgery at Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. Excellent experience, quality medical care, easy recovery, no complications, and still maintaining my 160 pound loss 6 years later. My daughter is a gastroenterologist and she sent me to Dr. Ariel Ortiz based on recommendations from her colleagues in the bariatric community. VSG was still considered experimental in the US at that time so my insurance wouldn't cover it.

GOOD LUCK!

I had surgery 4/14/14 with Dr. Ilan in Tijuana. I weighed 264 and now I weigh 146. I had zero complications and obviously would do it again in a heartbeat. Two of my coworkers did it too and are doing well and had an easy time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
