Hello this is me... Taking my life back 10/20/16....

Recommended Posts

Hello this is me...

The one always hiding behind someone in pictures. The one always taking pictures but not wanting to be in the frame. The one not liking the reflection in the mirror. The one with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, pre diabetes , TMJ and living in constant pain. Always up in weight and rarely down. I've tried it all, HCG, phentermine, topamax, Belviq, Jenny, Seattle, Medifast,WW just to name a few, nothing worked for long. This new normal of yo-yo dieting weight loss then more gain was not normal to me.

So,I'm taking my life back in 3 days. I Will be in the pictures and no longer afraid of how it turns out. I will be healthy, and not live in pain. I'm nervous and I'm afraid, but I can't continue to live this way.

I'm choosing to self pay, because my Bmi is not enough to get approved by insurance in the US.

As I embark on this journey, I will update with pictures and how Things are progressing.

Hello! I absolutely know what you mean! I'm getting sleeved on 10/25. My start weight was 213, but I'm only 5,1 so insurance is covering. My first visit the nurse said to be careful cause I couldn't loose an ounce before my insurance approval. Now everything is ready. Congratulations on making this decision. I can't wait to get in front of the camera for a change!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
