I am 7 mos post op. I am able to eat just about whatever I like. Sometimes I just want to eat on and off all day. Sometimes I wonder if this is because I am not getting enough calories or just wanting more. Either way I am terrified that I will do something that will undo all that I have done to lose my current amount of weight (82 lbs and counting). I am wondering if anyone is having these kinds of feelings or struggles?

I vacationed a month, and went on a cruise. I cruised myself up 20 lbs. Losing this 20 lbs is so hard, even though I am back on shakes and eating right. Makes me furious with myself because those dinner rolls I ate were not worth it. Only we can sabotage ourselves.

What is your back up plan when you want to eat but aren't hungry? Can you pick up some knitting? Paint your nails? Go for a walk? I like to brush my teeth and rinse with listerine or pop in a listerine strip if I am out.

Grazing is not good, trust me, I know. I'm guilty of it myself. When you do graze, are you making good choices? Protein, no carbs? eggs, cheese, Jerky, almonds...

Catch it now before you gain 5, 10, 25 pounds. You can, you just have to choose to do so.

Thank you lipsticklady. I think some of you advice will be very helpful. I think the teeth brushing/listerine and/or listerine strips sounds like it may help me. Having that taste in my mouth my Detour me from eating some right after that. Again thank you!

I agree with @@LipstickLady about the being bored thing.. I realized that about myself.. I'd find myself wanting something to eat, and when I consciously thought about it I realized I was just bored.. I love doing adult coloring books, that helps, I also crochet rag rugs.. Just another thought

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
