kcorny8 9 Posted October 16, 2016 Starting weight 230# Surgery day weight (6/29/16) 212# Current weight 160# I feel great. People say I look great. I just thought I'd be happier. I've lost a lot of weight and I'm not at goal yet. At least 20# to go. That's not the problem. My skin is so loose. Under my arms, thighs, breasts and butt are wrinkly and loose. I look great with clothes on. I won't even look at myself naked though. Is so bad that I feel like my face is wrinklier and older looking. Eyelids are even saggy. I'm only 43 years old. I'll never be able to afford plastic surgery. It all just makes me sad. I'm like a wrinkled lunch sack. Havasumoma 250 Posted October 16, 2016 Be gentle with yourself honey. Give your skin time to catch up. Work out, drink lots of Water and keep your skin well moisturized. Sent from my LGLS992 using the BariatricPal App
shanirish33 20 Posted October 16, 2016 Im pre surgery and worried about that...my surgeon said if you have any skin issues like rashes or such to document it really well because insurance may cover it if it is causing health issues....also if you google there are a bunch of things people say may help in addition to lots of Water and exercise like palmers lotion and body scrubs twice a week...its all worth a shot Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
erp 2,016 Posted October 16, 2016 I was at least 18 months out before my skin started to tighten up. Many have plastics well before then but there is a reason the recommendation is to wait until your weight loss is complete and you are weight stable for at least 6 months to a year. Give it time, it does get better. Don't expect perfection but improvement is reasonable. In the meantime, exercise and stay hydrated and rock those cute outfits! PS- I'm 43 next month. PorkChopExpress 821 Posted October 16, 2016 Weightlifting can help with this, too. As you grow your muscles, they fill out the skin a bit and tone you up all over. If you get into a muscle building regimen, along with the lotions and Water, you'll see some positive changes.
trmertz 8 Posted October 16, 2016 It really should come as no surprise if you did all the research. What did you expect? You need an attitude adjustment and a refocus on why you had the surgery and what your primary goal was. The rest is not important. Health first vanity second.
