bac2u 41 Posted October 16, 2016 Has anyone ever had tooth loss after having the sleeve? Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App
Unbridled 152 Posted October 16, 2016 In my year of research before I decided to have the sleeve surgery, I never ran across anything that mentioned tooth loss as a containdication. Tooth loss can be caused by a wide variety of neglectful habits like: not brushing twice a day, using methamphetamines or a sugared soft drink habit, etc., etc. Tooth loss can happen if the patient has had long standing periodontal disease, which is a non-painful, albeit serious progression of bone loss due to neglecting gum and tooth health. The breath becomes bad, the supporting gum tissue becomes red and very inflamed, the teeth become loose, and unless an aggressive hygiene program is started by your dentist, teeth will be lost. Periodontal disease is very serious. The bacteria related to this process can cause organ failure. Make an appointment with your dentist to stop tooth loss; the sooner the better.
