Your body is stressed. When I am stressed, that happens to me. My last one was 8 days and so heavy that I had to stay home from work and in bed because of it.

Phew, glad I'm not alone. Hope it calms for you next month.

Thanks for posting this question! I had started my period a few days before my surgery (9/12) and have just now stopped. Very very heavy at times, too. My surgeon just told me to see my Gyn and she didn't seem to think it was surgery related - interesting. Glad to know I'm not yhe only one!

Well, I'm just the opposite. I was sleeved on 6/30/16 and have been regular (plus or minus a few days) before and since surgery. However, I was supposed to have one almost 3 weeks ago and I still haven't had one. I started freaking out because with my history this could only mean one thing. I'm 46 and that would be the LAST thing I would need! So, I went to my GYN and all tests were negative (pregnancy, pre-menopause, Iron, etc.). So the final conclusion from the Doctor was it's my hormones.

Ladies - if you think something is off more than just hormones go have it checked. After a night in the ER and a morning at my OBGYN, I'm scheduled for emergent surgery tomorrow morning. I was clotting massively, my blood loss is pretty significant and now I'm on my 2nd surgery in 2 months.

I have no idea if it's weight loss related but wanted to share my experience. I've always had very heavy periods with high blood loss but this is different - makes me feel drunk.

im on the total opposite end. I had my last period 9/17-21/16. Had surgery on 10/5/16. I was on birth control and my last pack finished 2 weeks before my surgery date. I was expecting another period a few days ago and it hasnt shown its head yet. Im not really surprised, mainly because i was on birth control not only for contraception but to regulate my periods. Without it i dont get one for months at a time. I might have 1 to 2 a year if im lucky. I keep feeling like it might happen but then im let down lol. Its annoying. I like knowing what to expect so not knowing if im going to get my period any time soon is nerve wracking. But ive never been under 200lbs as an adult. I figure i'll give it a bit before i get back on any form of birth control. i heard after wls its not as affective for contraception so i may ask my gyn about the IUD. Anyone else goes not get a period without BC? I feel like a special unicorn lol.

PS. I always felt like the irregularity was due to being so heavy. Ive been overweight my entire life so im kind of curious to see how much weight i have to lose to have a regular period and if thats even possible for me. It'd be nice.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
