Linda Seibert 0 Posted October 14, 2016 Hello everyone, this is my first time on here and I was just looking for some imput from people who understand my situation. I had my gastric bypass surgery on September 7th 2016, so I am 5 weeks post op. I am so thirsty can't seem to get enough to drink I just want to chug Water even though I can't. I drink about 3 16 Oz bottles of water a day and still thirsty. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, as I said I'm 5 weeks out and have only lost 35LBS, I feel I should be losing more and even last week I gained half a pound. I eat about 300 calories a day. what am I doing wrong... 165B445 188 Posted October 14, 2016 Try your sugar free popsicles, make flavored crushed ice with fav Crystal lite... slushie from Hawaii punch flavors sugar free... Weight loss so far average 7 lbs a week since this is your 5th week... this is not an overnight process.... also down the road the weight loss will slow down to a trickle... and at times you will experience stalls...but this tool is the best gift I have given myself... I'm 5 mos post op, I loss about and average 1-2 lbs a week... 52 lb loss so far... good luck with your journey... Sajijoma 1,324 Posted October 16, 2016 35lbs at 5wks out is an amazing result. I didn't lose nearly that much in the beginning. You have to be patient and just follow your program and your body will do the rest. It takes awhile. You didn't gain it overnight and you can't lose it overnight. As far as feeling thirsty, just keep on sip, sip, sipping. Your body needs the Water to flush out the waste from the melting fat. The more you can get in, the more you will lose. If water alone isn't cutting it, work in sugar free Popsicles or sugar free Jello or broth to help get the liquids numbers up.

newammie78 23 Posted October 17, 2016 Its the same with me. I chew ice chips a lot. I freeze protien Water too but hate the flaver. I'm able to eat the gerber #3 babyfood, very slowly. I season it a little bit. I can drink my protien shakes just fine but cannot keep Water down...I don't know why. I was a big drinker of cold water before surgery. My nutr. Said to drink other things but water is all I want when I'm thirsty so idk. Soups and babyfood are all I can stomach at this point. Anything else I feel overly full for a long time after. newammie78 23 Posted October 17, 2016 I feel like I'm doing pretty good. I don't count what I lost pre op. I'm 36 down post op. I feel good about it. My body hurts a lot less and I'm more mobile for sure. I think everyone probably loses at different rates. mike4276 8 Posted October 22, 2016 I think it sounds like you are doing fine. At four weeks I had lost 22 pounds. At 13 weeks I am down 65 pounds. It has slowed down quite a bit the last couple of weeks. My doctor is very happy with my results. He had predicted I would be down 50 pounds at 12 weeks. Don't forget to walk and exercise. I spend 30 minutes on the treadmill and next day my scales are down 2 pounds. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
