Not losing weight

Recommended Posts

@@Asm0108 You have to tell us what you are doing - to get any feedback about what changes you might need to make. 13 lbs in a month is nothing to sneeze at - we all lose at different rates. Are you drinking enough no-cal fluids? How about Protein - how many gms are you getting a day? You are also in the stall period - you may not be losing on the scale but your measurements will be different and your body is changing. If you're eating a lot of carbs (fruit, rice, Pasta, bread, etc.) - that could be an issue with weight loss. As long as you follow a high Protein, low carb diet and get enough fluids - the weight will come off. It's not a race - so be happy to lose 13 lbs and keep going!

@@Asm0108 What's your starting weight? You might be losing slower than you expected - but honestly - 13 lbs in a month is not bad at all. You're still recovering. Weight can also fluctuate if you are getting your period, retaining fluids (maybe you had too much sodium), Constipation, etc. Just keep moving to reach your goals.

Starting at a lower weight will mean slower weight loss. If you are likely to lose 75 pounds overall than you can't expect you'd lose 25-50% of that in first months, right? If your Protein and fluids are good just keep going and it will add up. I'm a 35 bmi and my dr said to expect the weightless to take a year.

I've heard and read that when you have hypothyroidism even b with these surgeries, it's sometimes slower to see the weight go, you may have to increase exercise perhaps but it's likely your metabolism.

It could be worse. I'm 2 months out and I only lost 7 lbs last month. And that is with tracking, counting, measuring, and exercising faithfully.

Oh WOW! It's kind of discouraging, isn't it? I'll keep doing what I'm supposed to and see what happens

13 lbs in one month is awesome at your weight. That's more than 3 lbs/week. Just keep doing what you're doing as long as you're getting plenty of Water and your Protein needed. You're on the right track.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
