Feeling very stressed. Apparently my EKG was abnormal. Being referred to a cardiologist. This has been my fear all along. That I would be disqualified for surgery by one of these many tests. Anyone have this happen and turn out okay?

I didn't have an abnormal EKG, in fact I passed my bicycle stress test... etc. and they STILL asked me to see a cardiologist. I had to retake a stress test but it had to be a nuclear stress test with images. I think it's common, and you should be fine. It's better to find out if you have any heart problems before surgery anyway so you can be sure to make it through surgery and enjoy a wonderful life afterwards.

I had an abnormal EKG, I was referred to a Cardio. I had a stress and ultrasound. The Doc diagnosed a "silent" heart attack. He couldn't pinpoint when though. But he cleared me for surgery. I am 58 4'11 and weigh 300 pounds. I really need this surgery. I am waiting for approval as I write this. I wouldn't worry till there's someting to worry about.

I had an abnormal EKG. Turns out is fairly common in larger, busty women. The extra tissue and boobage (scientific term) interfere with proper readings. They did an echo, everything was great, and I was cleared with no issues.

I have had an abnormal EKG for as long as I can remember. The cardiologist still approved me for surgery. I did have to do a stress test though.

Do you have Weiner dogs? Or does your screen name mean something else?

I also had an abnormal EKG. Had a nuclear stress test and everything was fine. It's good to know information either way. It's also comforting to know some programs are thorough and careful! Good luck. It was an easy test!

Zoeyg1958 just wondering how long you have been waiting for approval. So far for me its been two weeks.

Yes it's always good to know as much info as possible. I had a 3 month eval with my Cardio and all still looks good. I see him again in six months for recheck. Hopefully he won't recognize the "new" me. ????

Try not to stress it till there I a reason too.. Look at it as him being thorough.. My cardiologist said I have a leaky valve that may need repaired in the future but he cleared me.. My upper GI was irregular.. The had to have an EGD that shows I have Barrett esophagus & had H Pylori infection.. My doc wasn't sure he'd still be able to do the surgery.. But now yep still a go.. Think positive! I'm sending positive thoughts n energy

Thank you so much. I just kinda had a moment there. I keep worrying that I will bed denied by one of these millions of tests. Then you get a call like that. Instant stress. Much better now.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
