ncqt1973 10 Posted October 14, 2016 I've read that a lot of people add Peanut Butter to help with the flavor; however, I am severely allergic to peanuts. Do you all have any other suggestions for additives? I like all of the flavors that I have tried so far, but I understand that there is a possibility that my taste buds will change or I will get tired of the same old flavors/sweet shakes.< /p> Help!!! Bufflehead 6,358 Posted October 14, 2016 Torani Sugarfree syrups, Sweetleaf Sweet drops, sugar free/fat free pudding mix (small quantities only -- still has a fair amount of calories and carbs). You may want to check with your team about adding fruit such as strawberries to Protein Shakes. Absolutely not allowed under my plan, but it might be under yours. heidikat72 935 Posted October 14, 2016 I used the sugar free Torani syrups - i bought a couple of flavors. This helps to just change up a flavor a little bit when you start getting bored of the shakes. Sugar free coconut Syrup in a vanilla shake (it doesn't take much) was a favorite. I've also added a tiny bit of instant coffee to a chocolate shake. For my Syntrax Nectar fruit flavor powders, I made them with crystal light lemonade - it helped cut some of the protein-y taste and smell. My nutritionist allowed for a small amount of banana to be added but cautioned that she didn't really recommend it because of the amount of sugar it adds but said it was an option if we really couldn't handle the taste of the shake without it. ncqt1973 10 Posted October 14, 2016 Awesome!!! Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!! I was hoping for a nice variety of flavors so I wouldn't get bored. I tried the Isopure Water yesterday (passion fruit) and it was DISGUSTING!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted October 14, 2016 @@ncqt1973 we call it Isopuke for a reason! I did find I could choke that stuff down if I mixed it 50/50 with a complementary flavor of G2 or Lifewater Zero, something like that -- but on its own, it was one of the few things I just couldn't force myself to drink post-op. Blech!
Pescador 1,374 Posted October 14, 2016 Hershey's Unsweetened COcoa powder which is SF, FF, almost zero calories, is great, with a packet of Stevia for sweetness. I use the Silk "milks" which are about 25 calories for 8 0z. I always add ice cubes for a milkshake consistency. Be creative with flavors, it helps. Love fruit but too much sugar. You can find the Torani syrups at grocery stores, World Market, or on Amazon.

I always put a tablespoon of unsweetened special dark cocoa powder in my shakes . It's so high in antioxidants and so good for us.
