Autumn Fury 67 Posted October 14, 2016 Anyone who has had gluten allergies or intolerance have the sleeve? I am almost 4 weeks out. Have had gluten allergy for 5 years. Since the surgery I have mostly avoided gluten but when I did get gluten my body didn't have the same reactions as prior to surgery. Anyone else out there have similar experience? Broove 22 Posted January 16, 2017 I was diagnosed with Celiac's almost 4 years ago. That diagnosis made lots of things make sense to me. I've had lots of practice eating gluten free. It's not so bad. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
thisisthenewme 358 Posted January 16, 2017 Without getting into a lot of details regarding my own experiences with gluten. I think this happens because your body has not had gluten in a long time and is able to process a little now, but most-likely it will show signs of it's dislike of gluten the more you eat. MrsPenguin 103 Posted January 19, 2017 Been gf for 3 years and stayed that way since my sleeve surgery. Just don't want to risk it. I'm used to it anyhow.
higher 966 Posted January 19, 2017 I have celiac so it's absolutely essential that I avoid gluten in its entirety. I have several food allergies as well but none developed post sleeve, they were all pre existing. The gluten free diet plays nicely with good nutrition post-op. Personally I think we have an advantage over those who are tempted by Cookies, Pasta, pizza, bread etc because we simply can't eat them. You just have to watch for hidden sources of gluten, like soy sauce, anything with modified corn starch as an ingredient, etc. 1 skinnygirlwithin reacted to this
