Liquid diet week 1

Recommended Posts

Yes, because everything fills you up after surgery so you have to make room for those 4 sips of liquid. Man, this does take some getting use to. Im only 1 week post op and i forget and take a sip and i cant get anything else in

I was wondering this too. I've been really trying to push my Protein shakes now and it takes me a good almost 2 hours to get 10oz in if im careful. Im only like 9 days out tho. They are not good and i always want to wash down the last sip with Water.

Yes wait 30 mins the best way for me is when I eat I won't have nothing to drink near me, I eat and that's it until 30-40 mins later I get something to drink if there's room yet. Please wait , you wouldn't want to feel that full feeling and having to bring everything back up. And at @Torriluv87: yes don't drink Water after you just had your Protein shake, instead brush your teeth and tongue and gargling after will help you. Best of luck ladies. I am a month out and experienced it all and figured it all out as you would as well

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
