If you've already started your pre-op diet, I would HIGHLY advise against deviating from the plan at this point. The point of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver by depleting it of glycogen stores. They way you deplete your body's glycogen stores is by sending your body into a state of ketosis. Reaching a state of ketosis requires abstaining from carbs for 2-4 days. If you eat carbs while on the pre-op diet, you are essentially hitting the "reset" button and will have to go through the transition into ketosis all over again.

If you absolutely MUST cheat (which I sincerely doubt), make sure you stick to protein-only foods and don't have carbs or sugars. Otherwise you'll be undoing your hard work of getting your body into ketosis in the first place.

My last meal was a Protein shake.

Fear not.....your are getting sleeved.

There is nothing that you can't truly enjoy later on.

Be safe and engage in things that will help you prepare for surgery and then heal up and enjoy the losing.

food will always be there later on....enjoy the losing....reach your goals.....then you will be able to enjoy food with zero guilt. It is a great feeling.

My last meal before my pre op was bacon wrapped shrimp with a cream sauce from a favorite Mexican joint. My last meal before surgery was a lobster Soup broth. My best meal since was every single meal because I know that I'm doing my body right.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
