Shelli_d 38 Posted October 13, 2016 Just had my treadmill stress test. I think i did pretty good. If everything looks good, dr will write clearance letter. Just one more step to surgery. Only thing is, for my psychologist clearance, i have to pay out of pocket as my insurance (Cigna) doesnt cover it. Crazy but it's ok. Sacrifices are gonna be worth it. heidikat72 935 Posted October 13, 2016 i had to pay out of pocket for my psych eval too - i think that is pretty common. just remember that in the grand scheme the cost of the psych eval is well worth the benefit to your health that you will gain from this journey. Congrats on getting those clearance tests knocked off - it seems like such an ordeal but they are worth it.
greycurls 11 Posted October 13, 2016 Was this the stress test for the pulmonologist? I have my pulm appt next week and one question they asked if I've ever done a stress test. I'm gonna have to run, huh? Joy. Sent from my Nexus 5X using the BariatricPal App
heidikat72 935 Posted October 13, 2016 the stress test is for cardiac clearance. If you aren't able to do the treadmill stress test, there is an alternative - you lay on a table and they inject a drug (through the same injection site as the dye) that will put mild stress on your heart/vascular system as the treadmill would. Due to mobility issues I had when I started my journey, I couldn't do the treadmill so I had the alternate. It is an odd feeling to feel like you just ran up a flight of stairs even though you didn't move.

teedsg 253 Posted October 14, 2016 Good, you're on your way! I had to pay for my psych evaluation, too.
TracyBar 132 Posted October 14, 2016 Good for you! You're one step closer :-) Not good you have to pay out of pocket for psych eval - is it costly? I'm in Canada - I don't have to pay for anything - I don't know how many sessions I'm entitled too but I have group employee benefits I can go through too if I want to go more.
