I use an immersion (stick) blender. I have one from Cuisinart that I got from Amazon. It comes with a beaker to use for mixing. It is super easy to use and maintain -- you snap the blade half of the stick on and off. When you are done using the blender, you snap the blade portion off, rinse it off, and toss it in the dishwasher. The handle portion of the stick does not need any maintenance. It has one button with two settings -- high and low. That's it.

This blender doesn't add any foam to your Protein Shakes, which is a big bonus. Most standard type blenders add foam and that is almost impossible to deal with post-op.

However, if you are planning on adding ice cubes to your Protein Shake, you'll need something with more oomph to completely destroy them.

The vitamix is amazing. Its an investment but soooo worth It if doable. It really does everything, Soups, ice cream, nut butters, shakes..... I also have the magic bullet which is great for shakes, and for the pureed stage.

I have a Breville Hemisphere. I also have the same Cuisinart immersioj blender which works really well for chopping and whipping. But the Breville does it all well.

I have the ninja with single serve cups. I love it! Easy to use, fast, and purees everything like a dream! Even ice. Also, a very quick and easy cleanup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
