I think part of the issue is to much too soon. I am not from the camp that you can never eat fried chicken or anything bad for you ever again. However, you are barely 2 months out from a major surgery and having to learn a new way to eat is the most important part right now. I was just allowed to eat solid foods at 8 weeks and I kept things pretty bland for a good 2 months after reintroducing foods. At this point I would stick with grilled, boiled or baked meats. Try them and if they don't work, retire them and visit them again later. For me Chicken didn't sit well early on. I had much better luck with beef so I ate a lot of ground beef and turkey and would try chicken and pork every so often to see if I could tolerate.

I will admit, I've had some things I probably shouldn't have but I also waited to be a further out from surgery and I made a conscious decision to do so. If I knew I was going to have a bite or two of cake on my son's birthday, I made sure my other meals reflected that and were healthy and Protein based. I've had fried chicken on a salad a few times but it's not something I eat a lot. Also watch those portion, that is a HUGE piece of chicken, especially knowing it usually makes you sick. I would maybe try something like tuna or some other fish, maybe a slow roasted beef or a chili. You have your whole life to taste fried chicken again, I would hold off until you are close to at goal and remember if it's a trigger, don't eat it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
