okay - silly question.....what do you do with the deer after you hunt them?? do you eat them? or is it just a sport?..... always curious to know different practices......

We don't really have anything to hunt in Australia - except feral pigs (they are good for nothing, ruin pastures etc) but you can't eat them....... kangaroo's (sometimes they get to plague proportions in the country - and they don't seem so cute)...... rabbits (mainly in the southern states - these are not the cute fluffy type, and are eaten in stew etc)..... otherwise it's only flys and spiders - and we can hunt them with a can of spray!! cya K

We eat the deer. They are more lean than beef and without the chemicals. We love deer meat at our house. When our son was little he had a lot of allergies, and beef was one of them. The allergist told us that if we knew any hunters to feed him venison(deer meat) because it is much more hypoallergenic. I don't believe in killing animals for sport, but if you eat the meat then I am ok with it.

Love the undies idea...but here they make you take everything off oh well.

Renew good luck tomorrow! I will be thinking about you all day!

Karen less then a week to go! 2 weeks for me We are almost there!

I like the idea of preop pictures my DR doesn't do that. I did take my measurements back in Aug. when I started this journey. I will take them again the day before my surgery.

Best to all!

Good luck Renew!!

My friend and I are traveling from Montana to Mexico on your band date and we will follow right behind you on the 25th. I can't wait to get started!!

I'm not nervous about the surgery, but am a little nervous about doing everything right afterwards. I've given up on every other weight loss tool known to humans, so I guess I'm afraid of not being successful at this, too. Think positive, right? :nervous

Griz Girl, I share those same fears. I am not so much worried about the surgery as I am making this band work. I have failed at so many diets. I REALLY want this to be it for me. I want to lose this darn weight for the LAST time. I look forward to hearing how you did!! It's going to be an awesome bandster week.

First of all good luck to you again. You're in my prayers . Ask someone at the hospital if it's ok for you to have nail polish on. I wouldn't want you to spend:) your money on that and have to take if off before going into surgery. It maybe be ok to have clear polish. They check your nails to see if your circulation is doing ok.

My husband is a deer hunter also. I'm in Alabama and we're leaving tomorrow, the 24th for Colorado to elk hunt. I hope it's snowing. We hardly ever get snow down South. Let us hear from you.

Yellowsing.

Well, tomorrow I am working at the hospital for 1/2 day and then getting a manicure and pedicure before the big day. It has been years since I have had either one so I am quite excited. I just got home from leaving my 11 month old at my inlaws. He will be there until Friday. It was a little sad to leave him, but man is my house quiet right now. Husband's gone deer hunting, older son is spending 1 night with my inlaws. I have the house all to myself. I have been very nervous this week, but as the big day approaches I am feeling rather calm and peaceful tonight. I hope it isn't the calm before the storm. LOL I can't wait to begin this journey. I am determined and ready!!! I will post before I leave for the hospital on Wednesday and as soon as I am home and awake. Thank you all for your support. Can't wait to see everyones progress as we reach our goals. God Bless.

Thanks you guys. I got a french manicure so that they can still check for circulation. There was nothing on my day surgery instructions about polished nails. Oh well, if they take it off, it was very relaxing and a treat for myself that I rarely ever do. They may have to take it off one nail to put the pulse oximeter probe.

I will check in with you all after my surgery. I am certainly ready to move to the banded side of this journey.

Hi Michelle, My surgery is tomorrow, and I feel just like you. I really hoping for great success, but I've done so bad in the past. Positive thoughts. Good luck in Mexico.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
