Feeling like I am regressing

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 8 1/2 weeks ago. The last week has been so rough. I can't eat much of anything. Every bite of food makes me feel gross and nauseous. I am burping every five minutes and the bubbling from my throat is very annoying ( dr doubled my nexium for two weeks and then have to go in and see him if that doesn't work) . I am just concerned because of the lack of food I get in. I do meet my Protein every day by taking a shot of milk with Protein powder in it and then a shake for dinner. In this feeling it is hard for me to be positive and think that it will all get better. I am worried that this will last forever. Of course I have read that of course it doesn't , right now I am just scared. I expected to be able to eat some at this point and feel good .

I don't have any answer to this but just want to say I hope it gets better soon. My husband and I never had a problem whatsoever. I would be seeing the surgeon, and I am so sorry you have to go through this.

I get it. I'm pretty much at the same place you are. Getting very bored with the same foods, cause they dont make me feel icky. I try to eat food as much as I can, but I do have a Protein Drink every AM. But the scale stalls, the weight isn't coming off even doing the program and with exercise. Grrr. I miss enjoying food and if I get Constipation one more time, I'll explode. It's going to get better...I know this deep underneath all this blah. But this is hard. Do you have support? I'm seeing a counselor once a week, this helps...my friends and family are great, but they don't get it. I try to look at little gains. My clothes are baggier, I fit better with the seatbelt. Am I totally convinced I made the right choice...not yet. Am I able to see some good, yes. So I hold on to that and hope it gets better like everyone on here says it will. Good luck to you.

Don't be scared. Your fear will bring about even worse things. This is a journey. A learning process. It's not for faint of heart. I was sleeved 9.7.16. I've had some challenges. But I'm learning. Get some help from your dietician... your not alone. And nothing last forever. Cheer up....

I am about the same length post op. I have been fortunate that everything I've tried seems to sit with me well. No major intolerance. However, I do find myself feeling uncomfortable and gurgly if I eat too fast or don't chew really thoroughly. I ran into that more when I moved to solid foods. I have to really work on reminding myself to go slow, take small bites, and chew.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
