Hair loss/ A1C/ and How to loose lat 20 pounds?

Recommended Posts

I have been struggling for the past 3-4 months trying to loose my last 20 pounds and would definitely recommend some ides/thoughts/suggestion's.

I have come a long way from 217 pounds to 140/142. I keep fluctuating at these numbers. I am pretty much eating a small qty and good food though occasionally I do take a different road to eating more carbs, after my post op diet and taking my Vitamins daily. I have also lost a lost of my hair and don't know what can I do to improve to stop my Hair loss or to grow hair. I am taking Biotin together with my regular vitamins. I am wanting to get back to 120.

Also I did my one year post op check and my A1C dropped from 8 to 5.8(which is a little high but better than before). So would like to know if anybody who's A1C did not come down to normal, what did you do? Normal being below 5.6.

Any thoughts/suggestions/ideas/recommendations welcome.

I lost hair for 1 1/2 years and finally after three years I have almost healthy hair again. Biotin sucks. Your A1c will vary but it sure is better than it was, and so is mine. I was taken off Metformin at surgery thank God. Your weight sounds great. I am back on shakes but cannot seem to get my weight down any further. Good luck.

I can't help with the Hair loss or A1C, but I can tell you about the last 20 lbs, how that was for me. It was HARD. I had to commit to hand to hand combat with each of those pounds. Here's what I did:

--very strict eating regimen. I stayed under 1100 calories per day, no exceptions. Three small meals and no Snacks other than Protein Shakes. No grains, no starchy veggies, no sweets, no tropical fruits, and no liquid calories other than Protein shakes. NO EXCEPTIONS to any of this, no "small quantity of good food and occasionally more carbs" -- that's how people in maintenance get to eat, not people trying to lose the last 20 lbs.

--weigh or measure virtually all portions and track religiously -- fanatically even -- on MyFitnessPal.

--vigorous exercise at least 5 days per week, 30 minutes per day, but do not count calories burned or give yourself permission to "eat back" calories burned. Exercise for me had to include a mix of different types: HIIT, running, circuit training, weights.

--if my weight stayed the same for two weeks, I switched over to 5/2 eating for two weeks and that would get the scale moving again.

Good luck!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
