hipnthighsfordays 8 Posted October 12, 2016 Hello Everyone, Today is my last weigh in and my stress test I don't think that I am at my starting weight. I actually think that I am about 7 pounds over. Honestly, I have been having B'organic Protein Shakes. For Breakfast lunch I ll have the mix leaves with a packet of tuna and a slice of avocado. I may have grapes, strawberries or a cup of yogurt for snack and then I'll march back upstairs to my bed after work and stay there until the next day. And get up and start all over again. Will this impact my surgery? I am hoping to get a surgery date before I leave today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
PorkChopExpress 821 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) That's entirely up to your surgeon, I would think. But if you're really ONLY eating the things you've said, and you're eating them in the amounts you should, then there's pretty much no way you should be gaining weight. What you need to do is be honest, get an app like MyFitnessPal, track how much you're eating in the app and see what the calories are amounting to. You may be eating healthy things, but in unhealthy amounts. If you're eating full-fat yogurt with fruit filling and all that, it's really high in sugar. Chasing that with a lot of fruit as well, your carbs are possibly very high every day. My pre-op diet was virtually no carbs, everything was sugar-free and non-fat, the focus was 90% on Protein intake. I followed it to the letter (and consequently lost about 35 pounds before surgery). James Marusek 5,244 Posted October 12, 2016 Exercise is an important component to weight loss surgery. It is important to walk around 30 minutes (or equivalent exercise) each and every day. This will make the recovery process go smoothly and also ease the pain from surgery.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 12, 2016 @@hipnthighsfordays I hope that it doesn't impact your approval or surgery. Many insurance plans will not approve if any weight was gained during the supervised diet period. Some surgeons won't operate if you haven't lost weight either. Your shakes may have a lot of sugars as well - and not enough Protein. It's important to check labels. I don't see how you could gain 7 lbs though if that's all you were eating. Hopefully you are wrong on your weight! Good luck.
ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted October 12, 2016 Those B'more Organic shakes look awesome...not sure why you'd gain if you're sticking to what you listed for food. Check your yogurt, some of them are loaded with sugar, but even so, you should be losing. Good luck with the weigh in!
hipnthighsfordays 8 Posted October 13, 2016 Hello all and thanks for responding. It was just a pound gained. And I was told that the grapes should go and that I should eat plain yogurt with my strawberries. I should watch the portions of meat. He also told me that I may not be eating enough throughout the day. So long story short. I have to wait for them to send the paperwork to my insurance company.
