I start my was supposed to be five day now seven day liquid diet on the 27th... nervous and excited but mostly happy about the change coming in my life.

My surgeon told me RNY is ideal for the weight I need to loose but sleeve is better bc if my complex medical issues so much will be up to me. This scares me some but I feel up to the challenge to.

Guess I'm looking for advice and encouragement...right now I weigh 322. gained some weight but it's PMS time too..bahhh.

@@Butterflywarrior like you I started at higher weight and they recommended RNY but I am so glad I went with the sleeve. Love your name, btw.

You sound up to the challenge! Use these next few weeks to prepare, but not overly so (taste can change after surgery, don't buy too much).

Remember that the more you can focus on pre-op, the easier it is for your surgeon to move your liver and do good surgery etc. A good pre-op means easier surgery AND easier post-op.

It is worth it, so give it your all. Plus, it is good practice for after when not sticking to the plan can have dire outcomes like infection.

Best of luck, it will be here before you know it.

I get sleeved on 10-20 and was told to do a 1week pre op diet. However, I decided to do a 2week diet just for precaution and my own piece of mind. I don't want any setbacks when the time comes.

Keep us posted on your journey!

I was sleeved yesterday too! 10/20/16- how are you? I'm fine so far.. just a little upper abdominal gas and a sharper pain in left upper abdomen under rib cage. No nausea. Walking a lot. Hoping to go home around 1-2pm today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
