Did you guys take any stool softeners or anything to make you go ?

I took a liquid stool softener that was so painfully distasteful that I couldn't do it again. (4 days before I actually went) so I don't think that was effective because you're supposed to take it three times a day. They have stool softener suppositories that I would take... I didn't take any yet, cuz I wanted to wait it out. Wasn't in pain or feeling constipated at all. You can take suppositories if you're uncomfortable.

Also drink drink drink!

I am on my 7th post-op day. I really don't think I needed pain meds but maybe one time after I got home and it was only because I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep very well through the night. My first BM was day 6. I took Miralax and mixed it in with me a little small amount of unsweetened apple juice or my Protein drink and it's very mild it doesn't taste at all.

I'm on post-op day 6. Still taking my oxy at night to sleep along with anti nausea and muscle relaxers. Have laid off the pain meds during the day so I can try to get my liquids in. BM day 5 after sipping 3 tbsp of milk of magnesia day 4.

I had half a vicoden once i got home on my 3rd day but nothing since then. I picked up liquid tylenol but havent used it yet. I havent had a solid bm, only diarrhea, but a small amount every day. I have had cronic diarrhea since i had my gallbladder out 13 years ago, so i might be a special case. Lol

How do you sleep? I am a side sleeper and find that using a sobakawa cloud pillow to support my stomach makes it easier to sleep.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
