I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this in and I apologize if it is not. My name is Joshua; I am 23 and from California. I just found this site/app today googling some questions that I had about my gastric sleeve surgery. I am six weeks post on and have lost 49 pounds thus far. I just wanted to introduce myself on these forums and say thank you to everyone on here that provides useful information and/or support for other people on this site.

Oh well done, I bet you feel great? I'm now on my way to hospital to have a gastric bypass. I know it's not an easy journey but being able to talk on here really helps. Best if luck with your journey Joshua

Welcome! You are off to a phenomenal start!!

Thank you. I hope I can continue on like this. I know that the weight loss will eventually slow obviously but as long as it keeps going in the right direction I am happy.

That's a good attitude. I lost 99 pounds pre-op, and I have lost another 16 pounds in the 12 days since my surgery on September 28. That's a little over a pound a day. I know it won't continue at this rate forever, but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts! Eventually, it will probably settle back into the 3ish pounds a week that it was during my pre-op diet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
