Different tolerance on different days?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone find that they can tolerate something one day but not as well the next? For example, I am 2 months post op and ate an apple the other day, for the first time. Everything was fine. I ate the entire thing with no discomfort. The next day, I had a few of my fiance's apple slices and every bit was uncomfortable once it hit my stomach. Is it normal for that to happen and if so, does anyone know why? As a side note - I've tolerated everything since surgery and have never been nauseous or thrown up.

Yes, for me minced beef and scrambled egg (not at the same time) were OK.

Next time, I threw up both. Made them exactly the same, and my stomach said No Way! Instant dumping ....

I can have poached eggs or soft boiled, haven't tried beef since ....

I had a chicken wrap when I went out to lunch...I ate just one half of one half, but went fine. Got home and that night and decide to have the other half of a half for dinner....2 bites, of the wrap and I had to run into the bathroom fast and threw up fast. No fun, seems pretty much to me that it is all about how my stomach feels at that moment.

Yes... I thought I was going nuts. It is very frustrating. I like keeping my breakfasts and lunches relatively the same each day and eat a varied dinner. I can't quite do that at the moment

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
