LouLou22 15 Posted October 10, 2016 Hi all, Am scheduled for a RNY on the 3rd Nov. Spending my time mentally preparing myself until then. Just had a question with regards to dumping. I've heard there's a % of people that experience this after a bypass. Is this from refined sugar, or does this occur with natural sugar aswell? I presume it differs from person to person. I suppose I'm just trying to prepare myself for all eventualities. Thanks in advance, Lou Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
DeletedMember 715 Posted October 10, 2016 I'll confess to not knowing what "real sugar" is, but any sugar can cause dumping. Sugar, Sugar in the Raw, corn Syrup, honey, agave, etc etc. That being said, not all RNY patients experience dumping. Only a minority do (I forget the stat, but if you search dumping you'll see the stat repeated many times)
RabidChild 7 Posted October 11, 2016 I've only experienced once or twice since my surgery on 9/14-happened with 2% milk and another from a Protein shake...
MCE1205 47 Posted October 11, 2016 I've never experienced dumping syndrome. I'm not sure how much one has to eat and most likely varies with each person. I am 6 mos post op RNY. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
