ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted October 11, 2016 Retaining Water... I didn't think of this until I reread your post ella37, I ran out of my hydrochlorothiazide which is my Water pill! We use express scripts and I should get them in the mail tomorrow. I haven't had them since friday. Boy I hope this is the reason and I get them tomorrow Sent from my SM-T230NU using the BariatricPal App This is almost certainly the problem...when I came off HCTZ, my weight shot up, my rings got tight(er), etc. When your meds come, you should lose the water weight pretty quickly. Make sure you tell your surgery team about this, too. Good luck!
QueenOfTheTamazons 634 Posted October 11, 2016 Fyi - You might want to get uric acid levels checked if you have used hydroclorothiazide long term. I ended up with gout after using it for several years to treat idiopathic periphreal edema.
kmorri 1,689 Posted October 11, 2016 If I were you I'd switch to these. They are low in carbs and taste good as well. http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj8i-q03tLPAhUIjWkKHY0HAhQYABAI&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJORoVNdoTn0ICfU_6S2qDwRd39RzMXQ5F65ifbUrS9WKxge54w&sig=AOD64_0fHcF5bxdED6ZaG1a8WzNxxmGnCg&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjj0ea03tLPAhXqzIMKHeXnB5QQvhcIMw&adurl=
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 11, 2016 @@mommabear2311 Definitely too many carbs and not enough Protein in your shakes. I'm sure the HCTZ will help too. Drink TONS of Water - like more than 100 ozs every day until surgery and avoid sodium (packaged broth). Skip the crystal light - have Decaf tea (hot or iced) and Water with lemon. I lose weight slowly too - and I went from 284 when started my pre-op to 277 on Sunday (6 days into my pre-op diet). I gained a few pounds this morning but I think it's from having too much sodium yesterday and not enough water throughout the day (plus I'm due for my period). Stay strong - you can do this!!! rolosmom7 740 Posted October 11, 2016 Also - are you comparing the same scale? The one at the doc will always read differently. If you went from doc scale to home scale that could be why. But, I also recommend lowering carbs. That's a pretty high carb count. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll be fine ????

LIsaRaye81 3 Posted October 12, 2016 I am in the same boat. I started my liquid diet last week and only lost 2 lbs out of the 10 I have to lose by Monday. I have no clue how I am going to lose the weight required by Monday. Please update. I am crossing my fingers for you!!
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 12, 2016 @@LIsaRaye81 What are you drinking? Are you weighing yourself at the same time? Be sure to drink TONS of Water - far more than you think is enough.
LIsaRaye81 3 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) I just grabbed my 78oz Water jug to keep with me. I am using New Direction product and was having 4 per day. Now I am on the New Direction shakes 3x's a day. I started my monthly on Monday and I wonder If that has a lot to do with it. But I think my Water intake was lower than it should have been .....looking back I was not getting my full 64oz in and its frustrating. I have been working out and trying to sweat excess weight off as well........ I am praying my hardest that I can get this extra out of me by Monday....which is my actual surgery date. **Sorry Idk how to tag yet ** Edited October 12, 2016 by LIsaRaye81
KristenLe 5,979 Posted October 12, 2016 @@LIsaRaye81 I"m sure your period has something to do with it. I gained 5 lbs from mine - and lost it right away once it was over. Water is definitely the key - so that should help too. Add lemon and drink Decaf tea (iced or hot). Avoid sodium. Good luck!!!
LIsaRaye81 3 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) THANK YOU....I needed to hear that because I have been a wreck since yesterday's weigh in.
