I lost the same. I was expecting more, too!

@@brather yes they are. Way too high. You are lucky you lost anything given all the fluids you were pumped full of during surgery, and 6 lbs per week even without the trauma of surgery is more than anyone can expect on a regular basis, particularly a woman. You'll make yourself much happier if you dial those expectations way down. Good luck!

@@brather, I was sleeved the same day. I have lost 4 lbs but I feel good about it, since the hospital puts Water weight on and it takes a few days for that to go.

yes they are. way too high. Who told you to expect more than that?

I lost nothing in the first two weeks - not even a tenth of a pound. I'm now not quite 4 months out and down 63 lbs.

Chances are you came out of the hospital weight more than when you went in because of the IV fluids. You body's one job right now is to HEAL after having major surgery. Please allow it to heal without stressing about unrealistic weight loss expectations. Trust the process and follow your plan and the weight loss will happen but you have to let your body focus on healing first.

To be fair, I think we all anticipate a large weight loss right off the bat. I was sleeved on 4/27/16 and at first only lost 5 pounds after surgery. then within a month I had lost 30 pounds. Now I am up t0 75 pounds lost. I have 21 pounds left to get to my goal weight as set forth by the doc. It takes a lot of time. Swelling and Water retention weigh a lot more than you think. I bet within the next couple of weeks you will notice a huge difference. Remember to remain hydrated during this transition. And also remember to seek support when you need it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
