There are two phases to weight loss surgery. These are the Weight Loss phase and the Maintenance phase. The goals and strategy for these two phases are different. This is my impression of the Maintenance phase. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery2.pdf

yes, I have days when I feel I could eat everything in sight. I just have to fight it - and I'll tell you, some days it can be a huge challenge. But we'll probably have to deal with this the rest of our lives, unfortunately. I have thin (as in never been obese) friends who say they fight it all the time, too. :-(

I am almost 5 months out and I think because of a revision, I have no real volume limit either, if I allow it.

BUT, I know we can never allow it and so we have to closely watch what and qty we eat, to meet our requirements.

The good thing is I do feel satisfied at smaller qty, so eating slow, and stopping, I really have no hunger to shovel in more.

Our lot is to be more self managed, and less depending on the pouch to control us.

You're doing awesome! Just understand that it's normal as things heal up and our stomachs or pouches (if you're bypass) relax a bit and continue to do so years out. So as you see, we can't always count on restriction alone to help us lose and then maintain the weight. We still have to make good choices and use Portion Control. Weigh and measure so you're not in danger of overeating and sabotaging your weight loss.

Remember, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Thts hard to remember I wish I had A support group near me

If you're near any hospitals that do bariatric surgery, call and ask about support group schedules. It's unlikely that you'll be barred for having had surgery elsewhere if that's the case.

If you really mean that you worry about everything, not only things related to surgery and losing weight, there's - ahem - help for that, too.

@@James Marusek excellent paper James. I've had a adjustable gastric lapband for eight years I went from 305 to 172. I learned it cold. Fill it a half cc and lose a few pounds. Take out a few and gain a few pounds. I never realized that due to complications the party would end

I just revised to RNY last month. although I was use to working with restriction there were major differences. Your post and paper helped in the transition Thanks again.

Yes....I do know exactly what you are talking about. Including the complete fear of weight gain. There are days where I am hungry all day long and other days where I can barely eat anything.

As i hit the 2 year post op mark, it has become even more difficult. I just have to be aware and stay on top of it.

I knew that when i hit goal, I could not stop watching what I eat. If I did, i would be in trouble. I have lost and gained the same 5 lbs 2 or 3 times now since March. I hate to tell you but I think we are forever going to be focused on our food plans if we want to stay smaller.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive).
