I just had my sleeve done on tuesday the 4th of october. I need to know how long it takes to have a bowel movement or should i take a softner so it wont be so bad.? I feel so bloated and the gas they pumped in my stomach isnt moving. Im not in any pain, i just want to get rid of this gas so that my stomach will go back down. Please help the lady with the bloated stomach.....lol

Call your surgeons to see what they recommend. For me a stool softener was allowed. Remember you're not consuming much, and I've read people waiting 7+ days for the first bowel movement.

I had my sleeve on 10/5 and still no BM. I have been taking a stool softener since the surgery but nothing yet. I feel exactly like you do! Need this stomach to go down. Also my back hurts. One day at a time I guess

Are you still taking pain medication? Those can prevent your regularity. If you are you should take Miralax to combat the effects of the pain meds. Also, walk walk walk walk. It helps with gas little by little and promotes better bowel movements.

Do not wait 7 days for a bowel movement. It will be the worst pain of your life. Fleet enema and stool softner. My surgeon and hospital nurses OK'd both

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
